Barry Steel is an unassuming man with a great sense of humor. He served in the forces with tours of duties in Lincolnshire, Suffolk and Belgium. He returned to the West Midlands in the 80’s and it was only recently that he took his first steps to become a performer.

Barry was on holiday in Looe when unbeknown to him, his wife and daughter Leonie entered him in a singing competition for family members. Barry won the competition singing ‘Angels’ by Robbie Williams. It was at this competition that someone said you him. “You sound just like Roy Orbison” and it was from that comment that the seeds were sewn.

Barry started performing in charity events and local clubs, and as time moved on Barry was approached to tour New Zealand with the Beatlemaniacs and he spent two years (from 2006 to 2008) portraying Roy Orbison in Rockin on Heavens Door. Barry left ROHD in April 2008 to concentrate on his own show ROY ORBISON AND FRIENDS.

The show has gone from strength to strength with his amazing Orbison show, making him one of the top shows touring regional theatres in the UK.

Barry has always believed in the magic of The Big O, and he’s proud to be able to bring the music of Roy back to the stage where they truly believe it belongs.
