An influential artist who touched the hearts the people of the world with his indulgences in Rhythm & Blues, Jazz, Rock & Roll, Gospel and Country Western: Ray Charles’ stardom stemmed from his ability to adapt to a range of genres and musical platforms effortlessly.

The star, born in 1930; one year into America’s ‘Great Depression’ was thrust into working class life where poverty and hardship was rife. Despite Ray Charles’ struggles with disabilities and poverty, the star went onto achieve a high level of recognition from people all over the world making a life long presence on the Hollywood Boulevard Walk of Fame. Charles also received a bronze medallion cast and presented to the star by the French republic on behalf of the people of France.
