Character reference 
Maria has blossomed from working as a kennel maid to one of the Street’s most glamourous young women. She laps up the male attention that her good looks bring her but playing footloose and fancy-free with the men in her life has gained her a bit of a reputation.

Love life 
Maria accepted Tyrone’s proposal at the top of Blackpool tower and soon moved into Jack and Vera’s house to live with her fiancé. But she dumped him after he had a fling with Fiz and she then started dating Jason Grimshaw. However, it wasn’t long before she dumped Jason too after she found out he’d slept with Candice.

Maria then found a new boyfriend, Dan, who worked in the car trade. When she introduced him to Tyrone, it was clear that Tyrone still had feelings for his ex. And on a trip to Blackpool, Tyrone and Maria shared a moment together at the top of the tower and reminisced about the past.

Never one to let the dust settle too long on her duvet, Maria then moved on to Nick Tilsley and went to live with him in Canada. She  soon dumped Nick and returned to the Street, feeling that she was too young to settle down.

Back on the Street, she dated Vikram while she was working as a barmaid at the Rovers. And when her friend Toyah started dating one of her University lecturers, Maria made a play for him and ended up pregnant with his baby. She later had a termination.

When Nick returned to England, it didn’t take long for him and Maria to get back together and Maria moved in with Nick at Gail’s house. But she dumped Nick again, saying he was still tied to Gail’s apron strings. However, when Nick proposed to Maria on her 21st birthday, she accepted, but it didn’t take long for Nick to run off with Leanne Battersby and their engagement was off.

Maria’s love life came full circle when she got back with Tyrone. They went to Majorca and Tyrone was all loved up but Maria confessed to Audrey that she had a fling with another lad behind Tyrone’s back. They get engaged once again but Tyrone knew in his heart that she didn’t love him as much as he loved her and eventually broke up with Maria to set her free to find her true love.

But is it true love that Maria’s looking for or just a fast fling with a fit fella? She started going out with Chris because he drove a Porsche before having a fling with psycho builder Charlie Stubbs. Her roving eye then caught the attention of Peter Barlow but he left her when he moved back to Portsmouth.

Which unsuspecting man will fall for the charms of Maria next? It’s hard to know if Maria will ever settle down or whether her roving eye for a good-looking man with money to spend will be her downfall.
