Pollard’s son and business partner
First arrived
David appeared in 2006 under a cloud
of mystery. Although the blonde beau
was given a warm welcome by Louise
Appleton and Delilah Dingle, David
refused to reveal anything more than
that he was looking for his father.
Character reference
It emerged that Eric Pollard was
David’s father, although Pollard
ordered a DNA test to make sure.
When it came back positive, Eric
welcomed his son into his life but
David was hiding a secret. He knew
Pollard left his mother high and dry
and £20,000 lighter and admitted to
girlfriend Del that he was back in
the village to make sure he
retrieved the full amount from his
thieving father. It seems that David
and Eric are a classic case of like
father, like son.
Love life
David allowed himself the luxury of
striking up a flirty friendship with
fun-loving Del and hoped some
romance would emerge. It didn’t come
as easy as he’d have liked, as Del
got the wrong end of the stick, and
thought her Uncle Zak was David’s
father. The two are now partners in
crime as they gradually remove money
from the factory accounts into their
own pockets before planning to flee
the village together for South
America.
Memorable moments
When Pollard discovered David’s
deception, he played his son at his
own game and came clean about his
mother. With tears in his eyes
Pollard told his son exactly what he
did and insisted that he pay David
back the full £20,000.
What next?
With £20,000 in the bank will David
really be able to leave his father,
especially as he’s become rather
fond of the old man?
About the actor
Matthew Wolfenden is a former
gymnast and even made it to the
British squad before a back injury
forced him to quit. He originally
auditioned for the role of Eli
Dingle. Show chiefs called to tell
him he didn’t get that part, but
offered him the role of David
instead.
