Steve
Preston - Elvis Presley Tribute
- Biography
Steve
Preston was born on the outskirts of Manchester,
England. As a teenager he left school and
enrolled at Bolton Art College to study as a
graphic designer. Soon after he joined a local
band as a guitar / vocalist and they travelled
around the country at weekends, playing for
kicks and small change.
Eventually leaving college he pursued his dream
of being a professional entertainer, although he
didn’t quite know yet in what capacity. He had
always loved Elvis’ music how ever and had found
an amazing ability to sound like him, so it was
a natural progression to develop a tribute show
which eventually became popular enough to turn
professional working the Northern Club circuit.
The Choice of Royalty . . . . . . . . .
Although it would be at least a further five
years or so before his talent and ability as an
Elvis Tribute would be noticed he was eventually
chosen to play young Elvis in his first ever
theatre role, "Elvis and the Rock & Roll years"
after an appearance on Granada Television.
In 1992 he was signed up to perform as "The
Vegas Elvis" in the U.K. version of Legends. The
show took him around the world and was even
chosen in 1995 to perform on the Royal Variety
show, for Her Royal Highness her Majesty the
Queen.
He later left "Legends" and signed up to tour
nationally with the biggest promoters in the U
K, (SJM Concerts) in a show entitled "The Best
Elvis Show in the World …….Ever!" and was
invited to be special guest on the Bjorn Again
Nationwide tour. Various television appearances
included Richard and Judy and Schofield's Quest,
when London Weekend sent a TV crew to Las Vegas
to purchase and then present Steve with Elvis's
very own Cigar Lighter.)
