Seven
Days - Party & Function Band
- Biography
Seven Days are a North West based four piece
covers band that were formed in 2002, with
musicians that have many years of experience
from TV and radio, cruise ships, theatre work
and clubland. Seven Days play all types of
venues: corporate events, weddings, nightclubs,
cabaret clubs, birthdays, Xmas parties, formal
dances, pubs, and are available for bookings at
venues nationwide.
They
focus is on providing quality entertainment by
playing the right kind of music for the
environment they're in. They are as adept at
playing to a large nightclub audience as they
are to a small venue, and will work together
with the customer to tailor the set to suit.
GAV ALLEN
- Vocals and Acoustic Guitar
Well I guess music has been in my family for
generations. My first musical memory was
learning the keyboard as a young boy. At school
I joined a band who needed a bass player, so low
and behold, I bought a bass and learned how to
play it. Bass playing brought me together with
Kev in 2000 and it was there that I decided that
my passion lay in singing. After many different
variations of the band we have arrived at the
current line up which has come together so well.
Its a joy listening to the band playing whilst
I watch the audience's reaction to each song. I
just love entertaining and making sure that
everyone enjoys the night no matter what age.
Our repertoire is ever increasing the more
competent we become. I have played with Seven
Days now for 4 years and as a band I believe we
are ready for bigger and better things.
KEV CREED
- Lead Guitar and Backing Vocals
I was given my first guitar at the age of 5, and
it was then that I became hooked, and wanted to
know more and learn as much as I could about the
instrument. I had lessons for about 3 years,
from the age of approximately 10 to 13, and this
gave me a sound understanding of what was
achievable. Once I got into my first couple of
bands from the age of 15, and stopped being a
bedroom guitarist, my playing developed as I
learnt how to play with other musicians, and how
the band scenario actually worked. I played in a
string of bands in the mid 80s/90s, playing soft
rock and pop. The first of these was "The Call",
a 4 piece, drums, bass/lead vocalist, keyboard
and guitar. The second band, "Unchain The Light"
(naff name but the band were cool) was drums,
bass, keyboard and guitar/vocalist. The third
band, "The Bridge" was a 4 piece drums, bass,
guitar and vocalist setup. All the above worked
in and around the North West of England, in pubs
and clubs. This gave me an all round
understanding of what was needed to be part of a
successful working band. Seven Days and is
without doubt the best project I have ever been
involved in. My personal influences in my
playing are:
Pete Townsend (The Who), Gary Moore (R'n'B Blues
king/Thin Lizzy), Eric Clapton (Blind Faith,
Cream, Derek and the Dominoes, and solo artist),
Steve Rothery (Marillion), Eddie Van Halen (Van
Halen, obviously!), Steve Lukather (Toto), among
others. I am also inspired by the defining vocal
influence and quality song writing of Crosby,
Stills and Nash. All of these artists I love
listening to and playing along with.
PETE CLARK
- Bass Guitar and Backing Vocals
I played a number of instruments when I was
younger, until I discovered the bass guitar. I
started playing bass more out of necessity, as
the band I played guitar in at school needed a
bassist. I had always had a fascination about
the bass, so I bought one and taught myself how
to play it. My main influences at the time were
bands like The Jam and Madness, then as I
started to develop as a bassist, I started
listening to artists and bands of varying
musical styles like Level 42, Rush, Genesis,
Chick Corea Elektric Band, and many more. I like
to listen to as many styles of music as
possible, as it's possible to learn a bit of
something from everybody, and try to incorporate
them into my style of bass playing. My
influences over the years have been Bruce Foxton
(The Jam), Mark King (Level 42), James Jamerson
(Motown session player), a number of jazz
bassists such as John Patitucci, Stanley Clarke,
Jaco Pastorius, Marcus Miller, and a whole host
of others. I am influenced not just by bassists,
but by musicians as a whole. Being part of the
band's "rhythm section", it's strange how much
influence a drummer can have. I can honestly say
that Marek (Seven Days' drummer) is one of the
finest musicians I've had the pleasure to work
with. I've played with bands regularly for over
20 years, and as well as playing with some great
musicians, I have made a lot of close friends.
I've done tours in Germany, TV and Radio work
with Granada, Sky and the BBC. I joined Seven
Days in April 2006, and immediately felt at
home. All the band are striving for success, and
we're all driven and hard working. We're always
looking to reach "the next level". The love of
playing is clear, and our individual enthusiasm
rubs off on one another. I'm really looking
forward to the future, as I believe there's
plenty more to come from Seven Days, and that
can only be good for me as a bassist too.
MAREK DORCIK
- Drums
I started playing drums at the age of 13 after
discovering the magic of this instrument. At the
age of 14 I joined a school of music in
Slovakia. I learned to play many different
styles while studying jazz and classical music.
I got my degree and diploma in music at the age
of 20, and started to sail all around the world
on German and English cruise ships as a member
of jazz, dance and show bands. I moved to the UK
in March 2006, and joined Seven Days at the
beginning of December. My main influences have
always been drummers, and I have especially been
interested in listening to drummers who I feel
bring that something a little different into
music. Some of these are Tony Williams, Jack
DeJohnette and Jeff "Tain" Watts. Music as a
whole plays a very important part in my life.
Although trained in jazz and classical, I'm just
interested in playing any kind of music as long
as it's played well.
Below is the Review by Mark Ritchie from "The
Stage" magazine after their appearance at
the Unit One 2008 Showcase (as seen above):-
"Five-piece function band Seven Days played
versions of the Kenny Loggins' song Footloose
and the Steelers Wheel classic Stuck in the
Middle With You, although to be honest they
could probably have played just about anything.
These quality musicians took their time and
delivered a blisteringly paced set, despite
being rather hastily thrown onto the stage."

Seven Days - Testimonials
"I really liked Seven Days. Here we have a
four-piece live band who gave us songs from U2
and Crowded House, delivered in the compelling
style of very serious and professional
musicians. Surely work will be in abundance for
these guys."
"The Stage" review - (Angle Entertainments
Showcase Extravaganza 2007)
"Just wanted to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU!!
You were fantastic and far exceeded my
expectations, although from dealing with you
over the past few months I suspected you would
be brilliant. You've been great to deal with
from the start, organising events is not the
easiest job but working with you guys has been
an absolute pleasure, you've been so
accommodating, even learning one of my favourite
songs just a week before the event.
The feedback from everyone was excellent,
everyone said how wonderful you all were and I
would have no hesitation in recommending you to
anyone. I will certainly ensure all my
colleagues who organise KPMG events are aware of
you.
I'm sure you will continue to be very busy
throughout 2008 and I would like to wish you all
a very Merry Xmas and a fantastic New Year.
I know it's a bit early but could you pencil us
in again for December 2008."
"Seven Days - almost as long as we had to
arrange our Wedding!!!
Having lived in Fort Lauderdale for the last
year we have seen a lot of live music on a
regular basis so when we decided to have our
wedding in the UK we wanted some live music.
We had five months to arrange our wedding and
the first thing we did was book the band. Seven
Days came recommended and what a recommendation!
Our night was made extra special because when
you mix so many people with a bar it can be
worrying that no one will take notice and get up
and dance! Well we needn't worry because the
band did an excellent job of pulling everyone
onto the dance floor and making them dance like
no-one was watching!!!
What a night! Fantastic with big thanks to the
boys who put on an excellent performance! We
will definitely recommend them for future
functions and if we have another do like our
wedding we will have no hesitation in calling
them back!!
Thanks again Seven Days. A pleasure to watch,
listen to and deal with!"

"We would like to say Thank-you to Seven Days
for performing at our Staff Ball this year.
The band catered for all ages and ranges in
taste which as a result meant that the dance
floor was fully occupied all evening."
Phillipa - (NHS Christmas Staff Ball, City of
Manchester Stadium, 01 December 2007)
"Seven Days recently performed for us after
coming highly recommended and we weren't left
disappointed.
The band was absolutely top draw and played a
mixture of old and modern tastes which suited
all. A great night was had by all who attended
the function, and I would like to pass on a
great thanks from all who attended and can
assure Seven Days will be the port of call for
our next function later this year.
Once again a great thanks goes out to all the
band members who I can safely say are a top
professional act."

"Seven days were excellent, friendly, great fun
and really entertaining - we would recommend
them.
Everyone was up dancing at some point during the
evening and we loved how Seven Days interacted
with the crowd.
We have so many super memories. Thanks again."
