New Generation- a three-piece from Manchester , kicked off
the Showcase as a high standard act. The lads showed that
there was a lot to be said for stripped-down, basic rock ‘n’
roll, demonstrated most clearly in their final number,
Satisfaction. The lead guitar had an unusually distinctive
style in their version of the Stones number that featured a
slow fade, speeding up again to a roaring finish.
