 Markus
Knight
- Biography
Markus has
developed an outstanding talent in music over
the last 16 years. He started the piano at the
age of 7, gained Grade 8 Distinction at the age
of 16 and received a Certificate of Performance
with the Guildhall School of Music at 18. Markus
has won many competitions throughout his playing
career including Young Pianist of Leicestershire
at the young age of 15. In 2001, he graduated
from Salford University with a 2:1 in Popular
Music and Recording.

HIS SET LIST
Split into either two sets of 45 minutes, or 3
half hour sets, Markus provides over 90 minutes
of pure Soul, covering some of the best Soul
songs ever recorded. Markus will also play some
of your favourite Soul songs in the background
before, between and after his live sets to make
the evening complete. Markus has added songs
from Lemar, Brand New Heavies, Lighthouse
Family, Mario, Ne-yo to to his set to cater for
people that are younger in the audience.s.
Nowadays you can see him performing his own
songs and classic covers by; Nat King Cole, Bob
Marley, Will Young at a variety of venues
throughout the U.K. and beyond. A collection of
20 songs entitled 'The Soul Sensation' is always
available and features songs by: George Michael,
UB40, and also his ever popular acapella version
of 'Ben E Kings - Stand By me'.

SOUND SYSTEM, LIGHTING AND TRANSPORT
The Sounds of Soul is a completely
self-contained show: The sound system is based
around the best available music and vocal P.A.,
using 1,000 watts (with the option to add more)
of the world-renowned 'EV' active speakers and
Mackie SWA1501 Subwoofers. He also uses a brand
new Laptop to power the music and a Mackie
mixing desk with on-board effects and graphic
equalizer to ensure every sound check and show
is tailored perfectly for each venue.
His Motown & Soul backing tracks have been
purchased from a superb sound production
engineer and have a full and impressive
orchestral sound. Lighting is provided though a
possible 4 white and metallic blue Spotlights
and a special sound-to-light coloured floodlight
brightens up the whole stage area. All the sound
and lighting equipment have been bought during
2005 and 2006. Any equipment over a year old has
been PAT tested and proof certification can be
provided.
Markus has full insurance on all his equipment,
including Public Liability Insurance. Markus is
always accompanied by his own dedicated lighting
and sound engineer, which ensures a professional
and reliable service. He dresses in black and
white logo shirts and black trousers which
always impress the client and a sense of
'customer first' is the base line from which the
team always work.
Transport of the team and equipment by car, is
covered by the AA in the unlikely event of
problems.
