Gwen Dickey
(Formerly of Rose Royce) Born in Biloxi,
Mississippi, USA, Gwen is now a resident of the
United Kingdom due to her enormous success in
both the UK and Europe, where she regularly
tours and featured on television.
Gwen Dickey, the voice of Rose Royce on all hit
records made famous by this international group.
No-one can forget the classic hits of the 70s
such as Carwash, Wishing on a Star, Love Don't
Live Here Anymore, Do Your Dance, Is It Love
You're After, I'm in love (and I Love the
Feeling), and I Wanna Get Next to You.
Gwen Dickey embarked on a solo career and she
enjoyed her first chart success when she joined
forces with KWS on Chaka Khans classic hit Ain't
Nobody in 1994. In 1998 Gwen teamed up with
international rap artist Jay-Z for a brand new
version of the Rose Royce hit Wishing on a Star.
Gwen's new vocals sounded just as good as ever
and after picking up extensive airplay on Radio
1 and all the independent stations, the record
entered the UK Charts first week at No.13 giving
Gwen her first solo Top Ten hit. In 1999 Gwen
sang the title song for the Warner Brothers hit
Dutch film Abeltge (pronounced Able-Jur) with
top Dutch band Romeo.

For the first half of 2001, Gwen headlined in a
musical tour entitled What a Feeling, which
played major theatres throughout the UK. She
also appeared for Formula One Racing in Monte
Carlo and did the half time show at the
prestigious Charity Shield match between
Manchester United and Liverpool.
Television appearances that year included Never
Mind the Buzzcocks and Channel Fives Night Fever
(UK and American version). Also in 2001, Gwen
opened the show for James Brown at the Formula
One Grand Prix ball in Monte Carlo In 2002 Gwen
headlined with Meatloaf in Antwerp, Belgium for
Night of the Proms to a sold out show for 3
nights.
A 21-piece orchestra accompanied Gwen's
performance. In 2004, Gwen performed at the
Glastonbury festival to crowds of 250,000 people
from all over the world. In 2005, Gwen performed
with James Brown in Monte Carlo for Formula 1,
and was invited back in 2006 for the Formula 1
Drivers Annual Charity Ball.
Throughout 2007 and 2008 Gwen has been
performing throughout the UK and Europe both
with her band and on her own. She is currently
touring with her band, which is billed as Gwen
Dickeys Rose Royce.
