Kelly was once a principled
young lady but when she hit her
teenage years all that went out of
the window. She’s now become a
selfish gold-digger.
Love life
Kelly’s first taste of
young love was with Roy Glover but
her most serious relationship was
when she and her teacher Tom
Bainbridge had a secret affair. When
the sleazy schoolmaster’s antics
were revealed, he lost his job and
he and Kelly ran away. When she
arrived back in Emmerdale a few
months later, Kelly told stepmum Viv
that she’d found him in bed with
another pupil and left him.
Having
been betrayed by Tom, Kelly’s new
attitude towards men was to treat
them mean and keep them keen. She
toyed with Roy’s affections, slept
with Biff Fowler and, when she
discovered she was pregnant with
Biff's baby, conned Chris Tate into
believing he was the dad. She began
working at Home Farm and lied to
Chris about having his baby, while
she was secretly planning to abort
it. When Kim Tate pushed her down
the stairs, Kelly lost the baby and
accepted £1,000 from Steve Marchant
to keep quiet about it.
In
1998, Kelly shocked even herself
when she started to have feelings
for her stepbrother Scott. The pair
kissed on Christmas Day, just as
Kelly’s dad Vic was being murdered
by Billy Hopwood in the post office.
After sleeping with Scott in 1999,
Kelly was so horrified that she ran
back into Roy’s arms and was soon
planning to marry him. Throughout
the time she was planning the
wedding, Kelly was seeing Scott
behind Roy’s back but when he,
enraged by her refusal to leave Roy,
exposed their affair, Kelly denied
everything.
Kelly
and Roy married and were having
serious money problems. They
resorted to cleaning to help pay
their way. But when Kelly “borrowed”
jewellery from client Miss Curtis
and staged a dinner party in her
house, the police were called. In
order to protect his wife, Roy took
the rap and went to jail. While he
languished inside, Kelly slept with
Scott again and the guilt sent her
into a deep depression. After
confessing to the affair, Kelly took
an overdose and nearly died. Scott
found her letters and burned them to
prevent her getting blamed for what
happened. But when Kelly recovered
she came clean with Roy and decided
to start a new life in London,
bankrolled by Chris Tate.
She
left Emmerdale in 2000 and returned
five years later when she had a
fling with Rodney Blackstock before
setting her sights on Jimmy King,
seduced by the power and money of
the King clan. Kelly fell pregnant
with Jimmy’s baby and had a
termination without telling him,
afraid that pregnancy would signal
the end of her modelling career.
Ironically, she has since been
dumped by her modelling agency.
With
just weeks to go before Kelly walks
down the aisle with Jimmy, she
kissed Eli Dingle and was
photographed. Debbie Dingle now has
the photo and has blackmailed Kelly
for money. Will Kelly and Jimmy even
make it down the aisle?
