More Information

Roy G. Hemmings is a long-standing member of the legendary group, The Drifters. He has worked alongside founding member Johnny Moore for more than a decade and is now the longest serving singer in the band. Roy has made numerous television and concert appearances all over the world, including The Royal Albert Hall and several Royal Variety Shows. In 1995, he performed as a member of The Drifters at The White House for the President of the USA, Mr. Bill Clinton and was invited back to perform a second time by special request of the President!

Roy has also enjoyed major success when he signed a recording deal in the mid-seventies with The J.A.L.N. Band, one of the first bands to storm the British charts with an out ‘n’ out dance record, “Disco Music, I Like It” produced by Pete Waterman. After three well-received albums, the group disbanded and Roy launched his solo career, during which he has toured the Middle East, Europe and America, playing some of the world’s most prestigious venues.

In 1997, Roy released his first solo album, “No Afro, No Sequins, No Flares” to great critical acclaim. He followed this in 1999 with his second solo album, “All Talked Out” which includes a fine version of ‘The Drifters’ classic, “Like Sister and Brother”.

Roy’s stage show pays tribute to an era from the Sixties soul and Motown classics through to hits of the present day. His renditions breathe new life into some of the greatest soul standards by artistes such as Ben E. King, Otis Redding, James Brown, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Kool and The Gang, The O’Jays and of course, The Drifters.

Roy G. Hemmings is a highly-respected professional artiste with a most distinguished track record and a stage craft of the finest tradition. His live show is a celebration of timeless songs performed with an energy and emotion that touches the hearts of audiences everywhere.
